Learning outcomes

the ability to explore contemporary issues of the information society and scientific and technological development of information and communication technologies;

Assessment of students' activity during seminars.

Assessment of oral presentation on the independent topical analytical research

Teaching methods

Lectures with the use of computer technology, seminars with discussion of topical tasks, consultations on independent case studies performance, final tests

Course objectives

Give students the knowledge and skills to provide an effective analysis of the socio-economic activities on the basis of accounting regularities of formation and development of the information society, the general properties and characteristics of information processes;

give a presentation on the latest developments and topical issues of information infrastructure.

Gained knowledge and skills

To know:

preconditions and factors of formation of the information society and the basic laws of its development;

role of information technology in the development of the information society;

problems of investments in the economy of the information society and methods to assess their effectiveness;

the organizational structure of e-government;

legal, socio-economic and organizational aspects of modern society informatization.

To be able to:

evaluate and analyze different points of view on the features of the information society and the ways of its development;

explore the patterns of development and use of information and communication technologies in a particular application area;

analyze methods and informatics tools for evaluating the performance of the information society, intellectual capital, investment and economic efficiency of the implementation and use of information elements.

Assessment requirements

Maximum semester rating – 100 points. Points are allocated on the semester part and the exam ones: 80 points are available for the ongoing work of the semester, and 20 points – for the answers on the exam.

Assessment criteria

Activity at the seminars – up to 30 points,  report on the independent work – up to 50 points, exam – up to 20 points
